In recent years Acora Reneco has successfully developed a tried and proven method of accurately placing sticks at high speed, for both the softwood and hardwood industries.
The Stick Robot was developed and refined here in Australia for Australian sawmills. It replaces manual, inaccurate stick placing with a reliable Stick Robot design.
The equipment is controlled with an Allen Bradley Contrologix PLC and Panelview operator interface. Standard stick patterns are set up and stored in the system, and the operator simply enters pack length data at the start of the cycle. The sticks are automatically placed in the correct position, with stick intervals that can vary from 300mm to 600mm centres.
The Stick Robot can be incorporated in a fully-automated system consisting of bulk chains, double unscrambler, stick ending rollers, stick surge deck, stick Tong Loader, a stick distribution chain and 11 overhead stick robots.
The system runs best with straight sticks and, in a perfect world, all sticks would be straight. However, we all know that this is not the case! Our system handles bent sticks better than most other systems. Broken sticks are automatically rejected, minimising any operator input.
Features:
- Will handle any combination of sticks
- Accepts poor quality sticks
- Runs in excess of 100 sticks per minute (shop tested at 160 sticks per minute)
- Can be used in high or low speed applications
- Hardwood or softwood stacking
- Accurate placement of sticks ensuring quality drying practice
The stick placing and stacker system can be run by just one operator. It can be installed as part of a new installation or retrofitted into an existing plant site.
